Little Kala went out for the first time in the area dedicated to these wonderful cats! 🐯 After a cautious start, she explored every corner of the external exhibit, under the affectionate gaze of her parents Tila and Kasih. 👀 At just three months old, Kala is very lively and curious, always looking to play, alone and with both parents. "The birth at the Kala Bioparco is very important for many reasons, underlines the President of the Bioparco Foundation of Rome, Prof. Paola Palanza: reproduction is a sign of animal welfare and enriches the social experience; as an ethologist I observed beautiful behaviors of care and encouragement of exploration on the maternal side and play interaction, even with the father" The Sumatran tiger is a species seriously threatened with extinction, with around 500 individuals remaining in the wild. The Rome Biopark actively participates in international programs for the protection of the species, both through conservation projects in nature (in-situ) and by contributing to the maintenance of the subspecies in captivity.
